Emphasizes the interconnectedness and interpenetration of the world's peoples, offering an alternative to the atomized and bounded implications of concepts like "culture" and "society. " Course topics include: patterns of prehistorical expansion; forager vs. nomadic vs. sedentary societies; gypsies; the Navajo-Hopi land dispute; expatriate communities; and diverse cases of modern immigration and globalization.
