A thematic exploration of philosophical, literary, and cinematic responses to significant 20th century events and issues, for example, the Holocaust, May 1968, and the "linguistic turn. " Possible topics include memory, embodiment, and antifoundationalism. We will look at representative authors, directors, and thinkers, such as Beckett, Woolf, Carver, Duras, Spielberg, Renais, Kurosawa, Allen, Wittgenstein, Foucault, and Benjamin.
