Archaeology is the study of past human societies through material remains. Archaeologists employ multidisciplinary methods to investigate anthropological questions in the past, using evidence provided by objects, buildings, and other material traces. Basic history, methods, theory, and politics of archaeology are presented. Students learn practical skills such as artifact analysis and site mapping as well as the course of human prehistory, from fossil ancestors to ancient states (Also listed as Southwest Studies 200.) 1 unit - Wilshusen.
