Basic survey including the origin and properties of soils, their classification and applications to agriculture, third world development, engineering, environmental issues. Laboratory and field experiences will provide opportunities to observe soil profiles and demonstrate physical properties. Three hours lecture and two hours lab. Field trip ($30 field trip fee).
