3 credits In this course, students explore the relationship of the internal structure of form and its surface through the manipulation of flexible materials and texture. Working primarily with paper and cloth, along with wood, wire and stiffening agents, students devise a variety of methods to create structure. Emphasis is placed on expressive use of material and investigation of the interdependence of material and form. Slides, readings and documentation drawn from contemporary, as well as other sources supplement the course. Prerequisites: Three-Dimensional Design Fulfills: Sculpture Elective (Sculpture students); Studio Elective
