A brief survey of theory and applications in mineralogy. Emphasis is on chemical classification, modes of occurrence, modern techniques of mineral identification, and utility. Three hours lecture and two hours lab per week. Prerequisites: one semester of a college chemistry lab class and an introductory geology lab class (such as GEOL 201, 211, or 221). Alternate years.
