Introduces basic concepts of occupational therapy, history of the profession, roles and role performance, the organizational development and purpose of AOTA, AOTF, NBCOT and the accreditation process. Introduces payment structures, legislation, clinical practice settings, and the role of theory and assessment in the therapeutic intervention process from a biomechanical, rehabilitative, and psychosocial perspective. The practical application portion of this course teaches activities of daily living using techniques and modified adaptive tools. Interactive Lecture/Lab. Prerequisites: must be taken concurrently with or following MDAN-170 and OCCP-305 and 321.
