This introductory course is designed to provide the student with basic concepts, skills and techniques of managing financial operations of health care institutions such as hospitals, health maintenance organizations and private practice. It integrates accounting principles and statements, the nature and implications of the various financing techniques including service demands, health insurance, cost analysis, fee-for-service, capitation, contracts, Medicaid and Medicare programs into the routine functions of the chief financial officers and mid-level financial managers. Prereq: ACCT-201, ECON-002.
