This course is intended to provide pre-service and in-service special educators with an overview of the philosophical, historical and sociological foundations of general and special education, with an emphasis on multicultural perspectives. Educational approaches for meeting the needs of ethnically diverse learners, as well as learners with disabilities who have linguistic and cultural differences is emphasized.
