Course content includes methods and techniques for the administration, organization, and teaching of general music programs in schools. The analysis of experiences, curricula, methods and literature for teaching young voices and for using classroom instruments to build comprehensive musicianship is introduced. Curriculums studied include an introduction to Orff, Kodaly, Dalcroze, and combined approaches, as well as primary curriculums provided by major publishers. All are introduced while studying and implementing standards-based education. (Offered every other spring.)
