This course serves as an introduction to and the development of a working knowledge of the International Phonetic Alphabet, and its direct application to the English, Italian, German and French languages for the purpose of correct pronunciation and articulation in singing. Students will apply this knowledge in transcribing English, Italian, German, and French into the IPA; developing the ability to accurately and clearly enunciate and articulate sounds and inflections in English, Italian, German, and French. Attention will also be given to song literature materials, and effective vocal repertoire selection for studio and recital use. (Offered every other spring.)
