An exploration of world music styles as the reflection of world cultures. Emphasis is given to distinctive musical styles of India, the Far East, and sub-Saharan Africa as well as to world traditions that grow out of the interaction with European music in various parts of the globe including Asia and the Americas. The interaction of music, culture, and religion provides additional insight into diverse cultural traditions throughout the world. (Offered every other fall.)
