Historical study of the music of the Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary periods of music history, including representative non-Western music through readings, viewing scores, listening, and studying stylistic characteristics of representative compositions. The study of the music is integrated with concurrent historical developments in government, politics, economics, geography, science, literature, painting, and philosophy. (Offered every spring.)
