An overview of the basic principles regarding the function of neural synapses and psychotropic drugs used in the practice of psychiatry. This course is designed to introduce counseling students to the fundamentals of psychopharmacology. Areas covered will include the basics of neuroanatomy, neuronal function, psychodynamics, and psychokinetics as these relate to the use of psychotropic medications in a clinical practice.
