Course Level: Undergraduate Special legal status of the juvenile. Protective services, incompetence to enter contracts, compulsory education, child labor laws, and in loco parentis actions by state and private institutions. Juvenile and family court movement, emphasizing noncriminal aspects of administering juvenile justice: guardianship, dependency, neglect, child support, paternity, and adoption. Usually offered every fall. Prerequisite: JLS-205 and JLS-280.
