Course Level: Undergraduate This course explores the historical, cultural, political, and intellectual developments within the twelve centuries of Arab and Ottoman civilizations, beginning with the seventh century Umayyad Empire to the nineteenth century renaissance of Arabism, and assesses and analyses the underlying factors influencing the Arab social and literary revival.
