Course Level: Undergraduate/Graduate Counter-Rococo currents in the late eighteenth century, including neoclassicism and proto-Romanticism, with a detailed study of David and Goya; French Romanticism in the art of G ricault and Delacroix; romantic landscape painting with emphasis on Turner, Constable, Friedrich, Corot, and the Barbizon School; the realism of Courbet; Manet and Degas; and Monet and the French Impressionists. Usually offered alternate years. Prerequisite: two art history courses including ARTH-105 or equivalent.
