This course examines a cultural theme or the development of a specific literary genre: novel, poetry, drama, or essay. Students read and analyze Peninsular Spanish texts to better understand the dialog between literary genres and historical, political, and social realities. Students will develop the analytical tools and language specific to the interpretation of a particular genre and demonstrate those skills in interpretative essays and class discussion. One-half or one course credit. Taught in the spring semester 2008-2009 and in alternate years. Prerequisite: Spanish 304 or consent of the instructor. 0.5 Credits
