This course covers a variety of mathematical topics related to the history of mathematics and to applications of mathematics. Topics include mathematical problem solving, number representation and calculation, the real number system, consumer/financial mathematics, the metric system, and statistics. The course includes a mandatory laboratory in addition to the regular three hours of class meeting time. As a general elective, the course will be helpful to students who want or need additional help with applied mathematics.
