provides an overview of film, photography, and video (specifically contrasting the conceptual, historical and social influences encountered by the general public) in a seminar format. Students view, analyze, and discuss influential and seminal American and international films, photography, and video throughout the semester. This class will cover material from each of the three mediums dating back to 1839 and looking forward to contemporary trends (2000_s) focusing upon important aesthetic, cultural, political, and social topics.
