Fall (4 credits) or Spring (4 credits). Introduction to the main aspects of Japanese society and culture, with an aim for an indepth understanding of Japanese social and cultural life. Focus on central themes and issues that characterize contemporary Japanese society, including work, family, gender, cultural identity, and the impact of globalization.
