The chemistry of carbon-containing com - pounds; their structure, nomenclature, physical properties, spectroscopy (IR, GC-MS, NMR), stereochemistry, chemical reactivities, mechanisms of reaction, and synthesis. Four hours lecture, three hours laboratory. Prerequisite: CHEM 132. Prerequisite for CHEM 232 is CHEM 231.
