Introduces principles and concepts of evolutionary biology. Examines the Darwinian paradigm and the modern synthetic theory of evolution. Addresses specific concepts as evolution of sex, group selection, mechanisms of evolutionary divergence, phylogenetic systematics, coevolution, and molecular evolution. Three hours lecture. Prerequisite: Biology 320 with a grade of C- or better or permission of instructor. Recommended: Biology 107, 108, 109. Spring, alternate years.
