This course offers the opportunity to connect theory with experience as candidates consider educational practice in culturally diverse settings. Candidates learn the basic principles of multicultural education through course reading and discussion and then develop a firsthand awareness of key issues through their field placements. A minimum of twelve clock hours of field experience as a teacher apprentice in a multicultural classroom setting is required. Verification of completion of field component is required for education candidates to pass this course. Prerequisite: ED 303R or ED 360R. One hour.
