The second of a two-semester sequence in physics. A survey of wave motion, classical electromagnetic theory and optics. Waves motion: mechanical wave, superposition, and standing waves. Electromagnetic theory: Coulomb's law, electric fields, electric potentials, Gauss' law,Ampere's law, Faraday's law and electromagnetic waves. Optics: geometric202 Division of Science and Mathematics optics including reflection, refraction, mirrors and lenses; physical optics including interference and diffraction. Prerequisite: PHY 221 (a grade of C- or better in PHY 221). Corequisite: PHY 214.
