A study of the roles and lives of European women and their circumstances, activities, and achievements from the late 1700s to the present. Attention will be given to the concept of "separate spheres"; increasing public involvement; educational, vocational, and professional advancement; the suffrage movement; the role of women in the Russian Revolution and Stalin's Russia; the situation of women in Nazi Germany; the involvement of women in the world wars; the postwar period; and the current situation of women. Prerequisite: Six hours of history.
