Functional health patterns are used as an organizing framework to explore essential knowledge and skills needed to assess and manage physical and psychological symptoms related to common illnesses and treatment. It focuses on the fundamental competencies essential for professional nursing practice. Emphasis is placed on the development of communication, management, teaching-learning, and critical thinking skills. Research, technology and trends in the health care system are also highlighted.
