Cross Ref: ENGL 233 Selected poems, short stories, sacred texts, and novels written by authors from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds from different regions of the Middle East will be studied in their historical and cultural contexts. Special attention will be devoted to closely analyzing the diverse perspectives in the literature. Discussions will revolve around the interpretation of literary motifs, religious beliefs, day to day lived struggles and experiences, and challenges to adapting to cultural changes, which may occur from immigration, exile or exposure to other cultures.
