Common Curriculum: Humanities/Arts Modern This course aims to offer hands-on experience of the contemporary art scene together with critical skills necessary for the interpretation and engagement with visual culture of the present-including film, television, fashion, advertising, and digital media. Off-campus visits to galleries and other venues will provide opportunities to discuss what we see around us. We will consider how this material is presented and circulated, how it is written about, and how we can relate developments in visual practice to work of the past and to other forms of cultural representation of the present.
