The history of the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, subsequent Scrolls scholarship, the identity and beliefs of the sect, the contents of the Scrolls, how the Scrolls apply to Biblical Studies, how to interpret Scrolls texts, and how to use the information contained in the Scrolls to more accurately reconstruct intertestamental Judaism. Emphasis on comparative use of the Scrolls in New Testament interpretation. Prerequisite: BIBL 115 and BIBL 296.
