Provides an overview of research factors that both increase and decrease trauma suffered by victims of sexual abuse. All forms of sexual victimization will be addressed including sexual assault, date rape, incest, child sexual abuse, sexual harassment, clergy abuse, and rape in times of civil strife or war. Myths and misconceptions will be explored, as well as historical and global implications. Strategies for completing sexual victim trauma assessments for all ages of victims will be taught as well as more advanced and "cutting edge" techniques for treating victims of sexual victimization.Prerequisites & Notes PSY 100 and PSY 335, and junior class standing, or permission of instructor.
