			This course will cover the history of domestic violence as a social problem, its dynamics, prevalence, outcomes, research issues, and contemporary domestic violence policy. The course will focus on domestic violence in the United States. The goal of this course is to provide students with a broad understanding of domestic violence, its effects on society today and the resources available to address it. The course will also cultivate the knowledge and skills that will allow students to critically evaluate representations of domestic violence in a variety of contexts.
