Prerequisite: Admission to Student Teaching Offered: Typically every Fall Term Emphasis in this course is on the development of appropriate instructional units for the assigned Student Teaching settings. Students work with classroom teachers and College faculty to plan and develop activities and materials focused on the specific subject matter in which the student is seeking certification. Other topics include classroom-management techniques, evaluation and assessment of student learning, and motivational techniques. Student teachers are to reflect the values and commitments undergirding Berea's Teacher Education Program in their work and relationships with children, peers, parents, mentors, and other colleagues, and they are expected to meet Berea's program goals prior to completion of the Professional Year. They will be required to submit a satisfactory exit portfolio addressing the New Teacher Standards established by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board.
