The lecture/discussion sessions will examine both the classic experiments of the twentieth century using the text and several current experiments using the primary literature that elucidates the structure and function of the gene. The laboratory is a project-oriented set of experiments that will allow the students to investigate gene structure and function using modern molecular techniques. Prerequisites: BI 378 and CH 251.
