Primary Grades In this course students will examine the concept of Developmentally Appropriate Practice in the context of the traditional primary grade classroom. Various curriculum models and techniques, including play, inquiry, and self- directed learning, will be considered as vehicles for teaching academic and cognitive skills to both typically developing and specialneeds students. Development of a philosophy-based plan for teaching that at the same time responds to standards-based requirements of the modern school is a key task in this course.
