The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is a professional-level provider of emergency care for the prehospital assessment and treatment of the sick or injured patient. The EMT Training course instructs individuals in the skills necessary to meet the physical and emotional needs of the patient at the emergency scene and through transport and transfer to a medical facility. The course provides the instruction necessary to meet state certification requirements (Illinois Department of Transportation examination) and is a prerequisite for paramedic training.
