Description: This capstone course provides an introduction to research in chemical sciences. In the seminar setting students critically review primary literature sources and design, with help of the instructor, a serious and original research proposal in theoretical or experimental chemistry. Students discuss their ideas and applied methodology with classmates during regular weekly meetings. The approved by instructor research hypotheses are subsequently validated by experiments, field studies, or theoretical calculations. Students report and share the research findings with classmates in the seminar format. The authors of projects of very high quality will be encouraged to present their work at regional chemical conferences. Prerequisites: SC393 AND SC394 Credit Hours: 3 CR.HR.
