Description: This course examines the physical and biological characteristics of the marine environment. Topics include the origin of earth and its oceans, life in the oceans, the history of oceanography, plate tectonics, the nature of water, ocean circulation, waves, tides, shorelines, and coastal regions. A large portion of the course examines the interrelationships between organisms and the marine environment, mariculture marine pollution, and pollution control. Prerequisites: Credit Hours: 3 CR.HR.
