Description: This course introduces concepts of patient care and basic nursing interventions used in caring for individuals throughout the lifespan. Learners will use the classroom and skills laboratory to gain beginning competence in nursing theory, nursing process, basic nursing skills, therapeutic communication, and critical thinking. Students will also develop an awareness of diverse cultural beliefs and values in relation to health care. A major focus will be on the nurse's role in the safe delivery of care. Prerequisites: SC121 AND SL121 AND SC122 AND SL122 AND SC180 AND SL180 AND NU100 Credit Hours: 3 CR.HR.
