Description: This course is intended to introduce an advanced sociological perspective as it is applied to the themes of crime, criminality and the individual offender. Specifically, definitions of selected crimes will be explored in conjunction with various perspectives on both causation and response to criminal acts. This analysis will require students to read and discuss the primary writings of those thinkers responsible for the development of landmark classical and contemporary criminological theories.
