Emphasis is placed on oral proficiency with pronunciation exercises and conversational practice and the development of reading and writing skills. The course includes drill in the essential constructions and basic vocabulary of Spanish, complemented by short films and cultural presentations. Spanish 101 is not open to students with two or more years of Spanish in secondary school. Spanish 101 is open only to first and second year students. Not open to students who have received credit for Spanish 103. Enrollment limited to 22 per section. Normally offered every year. Staff.
