Description:

This course examines the effects that drugs have on behavior, including the ability to cause addiction and to reduce neurologic and behavioral disorders such as Parkinson's disease, anxiety, ADHD, depression, and schizophrenia. By examining the effects of these drugs on neurotransmitters, students better understand how the brain mediates these behaviors. Attention is also paid to methodology, drug development, regulatory policy, and the role of pharmaceutical companies. Prerequisite(s): Neuroscience/Psychology 200, Psychology 250, 305, or 330. J.
