Study of the bronze percussion ensemble of Indonesia called gamelan. Instruction is provided in traditional and contemporary musical styles from Central and West Java. Rehearsals are twice a week, and a performance is given every semester. No previous experience is necessary, and various skill levels are accommodated. Open to first-year students. Instructor permission is required. Normally offered every semester. G. Fatone.
