A study of the relationship between people and plants that explores the countless ways humans employ plants for food, spice, drugs, textiles, paper, shelter, perfume, rubber, and more. Class discussion, laboratory exercises, and field trips help elucidate the cultural uses of plants, the origins of specific useful plants, necessary processing techniques, and the strategies for sustainable uses of plant resources.
