Usually offered fall and spring semesters. First of a three-course sequence (PHYS 1121-2111-2121) for majors in physics and engineering treating the fundamental laws and principles of the various fields of physics: mechanics, relativity. Lecture and laboratory courses are integrated in a class room equipped with computers, interfaced probes and traditional laboratory equipment that enhances the interactive learning, hands-on experiences and conceptual understanding of physics. Three two hour lecture/lab sessions and one one-hour problem session per week. Corequisite: Math 1070 (4 Credits)
