An introduction of methods of mathematical physics used in physics and engineering such as vector and tensor analysis, Fourier analysis techniques, phasors, special functions, variation subject to constraints and elementary renormalization group techniques. The topics are introduced in the context of specific physics and engineering problems in electricity and magnetism, network analysis, modern physics, thermodynamics and mechanics. Prerequisites: PHYS 2121 and MATH 2080. Corequisite: MATH 2530. (3 Credits)
