Usually offered in the spring semester. This elective course is designed to provide the student with information about the common uses of popular herbal products and other important complementary and alternative medicines (i.e. dietary supplements) in the United States. The course will include a discussion of plant parts, historical origination, mechanism of action as available, adverse effects, drug interactions, safety, efficacy and quality control issues. Prerequisite: PHCL 4310, PCLN 4660, PCLN 4670. (3 Credits)
