This course introduces the student to western philosophy by focusing on the innovations of the modern age, roughly the period from the mid- 17th to the early 19th century. Emphasis will be placed on the philosophical movements known as Rationalism, Empiricism, and Idealism. The course aims to improve the student's capacity for critical reading, writing and thinking. Prerequisite: completion of any required non-degree credit courses. (3 Credits)
