Description:

Current dominance of "science" as a symbol ofprogress and prosperity has its roots in the cultural traditions of medieval Christian Europe and its selective appropriation of a Greek heritage. This course addresses the historical context, structure and development of science, and explores science as a cultural and sociological phenomenon while tracing changes in the perception of nature and human knowledge over time.
