Designed to enhance the student's ability to read, write and speak French through close study and discussion of selected readings-fiction, plays, poetry, essays and articles, as well as films, newscasts and multimedia programs in French. Frequent short papers and/or oral presentations. In the first semester, the course will emphasize reading; in the second, the emphasis will be on oral communication. (Edward J.
